Agenda

The meeting will convene at 10:30 a.m. at the Valentine Richmond History Center, 1015 East Clay Street.

Presentations

The presentations will be followed by the association’s business meeting and a meeting of the board of directors.

Attendees are welcome to tour the Valentine Museum (free) until it closes at 5:00 p.m.

Candidates for Office

All persons wishing to serve on the 2010 VARP board are requested to formally announce their candidacy in advance of the business meeting by contacting Steve Dunham, Board Chairman. Any VARP member in good standing during the entire current membership year (July 1, 2009–June 30, 2010), may seek election to the board. Members running for a board seat need not be present at the business meeting as long as these procedures are followed.

Candidacy statements, limited to two paragraphs, received by Feb. 27, 2010, will be distributed to voting members at the meeting. Nominations will be accepted right up until the election, but late nominees will not be on the printed list of candidates.

The center is at 1015 East Clay Street, near the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. It is about half a mile uphill from Main Street Station. (Outside, walk toward the rear of the station to Broad Street, turn left and walk up to 11th Street and turn right, then left on East Clay Street.)

The meeting is scheduled to permit travel by Amtrak trains 67 and 194 in the morning and trains 66 and 99 in the evening. Call 800-USA-RAIL for reservations or visit the Amtrak website.

Someone from VARP will meet Amtrak passengers at Main Street Station.

There is limited parking at the Valentine Center in its lot off 10th Street and additional parking for meeting attendees in other lots nearby. From Broad Street, turn north on 11th Street, left on East Clay Street, and left on 10th Street. Complete driving directions are available on the museum’s website.
